A Working Farm, A Working Community

Sunrise Development is transforming rural land in Cameroon into a productive, sustainable working farm that creates opportunities for the surrounding community. Our mission is to provide reliable local employment, strengthen agricultural knowledge and improve long-term access to education and basic healthcare.

Skills That Last Generations

The farm will employ community members while helping farmers develop practical skills in land preparation, planting, crop care, harvesting and farm management. By introducing improved seeds, appropriate machinery and more efficient farming methods, we aim to increase productivity while building valuable skills that can benefit local families for generations.

Reinvesting in Education & Health

The farm’s success will support more than agriculture. Proceeds will be reinvested into community development projects, including the construction of a local school where children can receive a quality education closer to home. The school will also serve as a community resource and provide space for regular visits from nurse practitioners, giving families better access to basic health assessments, health education and preventative care.

Our Origin Story

Sunrise Development was started with a foundational donation from Nicop Oil — seed capital that made it possible to secure the land and begin building a farm the whole community can grow with.

Sunrise Development believes that sustainable change begins by investing in people. By connecting agriculture, employment, education and healthcare, we are working alongside the local community to build a healthier and more prosperous future.

What We Grow

Four crops, chosen for this soil

Plantain, cocoa, palm and cassava — food the community eats and cash crops that fund the school, the clinic visits and the next season's planting.

Every goal connects agriculture, employment, education and healthcare into one self-sustaining cycle of community growth.

Cultivate productive farmland

We are turning underused rural land into healthy, productive fields — clearing, tilling and planting crops suited to the local climate and soil. Sustainable land management sits at the centre of every other goal, because a farm that stays fertile is a farm that keeps giving back.

Create meaningful local employment

The farm provides steady, fairly paid work for people in the surrounding community, from land preparation and planting through to harvest and processing. Reliable local income keeps families together, reduces the pressure to migrate for work, and circulates earnings back through the local economy.

Develop modern farming skills

Every role on the farm is also a training opportunity. Workers build practical expertise in crop care, soil health, harvesting and farm management — knowledge that stays with them, transfers to their own land, and passes to the next generation of farmers in the community.

Improve access to seeds, tools and machinery

Good intentions cannot outperform poor inputs. By introducing improved seed varieties, appropriate machinery and more efficient methods, we raise yields per hectare and reduce the physical toll of the work — making farming more productive and more sustainable for everyone involved.
